Funding in Canada

Many of the chairs in this catalogue are the same models provincial programs and insurers already know. That does not mean a program will pay for your order. Eligibility, authorizers, and approved prices belong to the program. We can prepare a quote in the shape an authorizer can use. We do not approve funding.

Programs people actually ask about

• Ontario ADP. The Assistive Devices Program can cover a large share of the approved price of listed mobility devices for eligible Ontario residents, usually with an authorizer involved and a client portion. Start at ontario.ca and search Assistive Devices Program.
• Alberta AADL. Alberta Aids to Daily Living keeps an approved product list for wheelchairs and a cost-share. A model being on that list is not the same thing as you being eligible.
• Saskatchewan SAIL. Saskatchewan Aids to Independent Living is the usual starting point for mobility equipment.
• British Columbia. Wheelchair seating is arranged mainly through regional health authorities and seating clinics, not through one national-style catalogue.
• Quebec. There is no single ADP-style public price list that covers every chair. Work injury (CNESST), road injury (SAAQ), private insurance, and the local health network each have their own path.
• Manitoba. The health system and Manitoba Possible are the usual places to start.
• Atlantic provinces. New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador each run their own program. We ask which one you are in.
• NIHB. Non-Insured Health Benefits can cover certain equipment for eligible First Nations and Inuit clients.
• Veterans Affairs Canada. Eligible veterans may have equipment covered under treatment benefits.
• Insurance and claims. Extended health, workplace boards, and auto insurers sometimes pay. They want an invoice and, often, a clinician’s letter. We can produce an invoice after the quote is real. We do not bill them in the background unless that has been set up.

What we will not say

We will not say “ADP covers this” as a blanket. We will not mark a chair as funded. If a program has a maximum contribution, anything above it is still your quote to accept or refuse.

Tax is a separate question. A wheelchair specially designed for an individual with a disability is generally zero-rated for GST/HST. See the Canada Revenue Agency’s memorandum on medical and assistive devices. That is not a promise about provincial sales tax on parts, or about a cushion sold on its own. It is not tax advice.
